Overview
The trek up into the Annapurna Sanctuary — the glacial basin that gives this route its name — is one of the most popular in Nepal, and it's busy pretty much year-round. For the wider geography and background, Wikipedia's Annapurna Sanctuary page is worth a look; this page sticks to the dog-specific side of things.
If you like comfortable rooms and modern conveniences, this is a good one to pick — it probably has the best facilities of any trek I've done. Outside of monsoon, it's genuinely lovely, with some of the best views around.
Good to know
Watch out for leeches if you're trekking in monsoon season — more on why below. Outside of that window, this is a comfortable, well-supported trek to do with a dog.
From experience
We tried this one straight after finishing the Annapurna Circuit, in monsoon season — probably not our best-timed decision. The leeches got properly into it: I ended up having to pull one out of Lucifur's eye, and Harley had blood running down her face like she'd gone twelve rounds with Rambo. Outside of monsoon, though, it's a completely different trek — comfortable, well-facilitated, and with some of the best views of anywhere we've been.
